This weekend, we have a full schedule of Halloween events, and chances are you do too. So I thought reposting this little video I made last year might be helpful. It’s all about easy ideas to feel festive — even if your someone who dreads dressing up. The ideas are simple, non-messy and inexpensive. You can even dress normally, then add or subtract these ideas as you move from work to errands to the Halloween parade.
I get it. Halloween isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But most kids adore this holiday like crazy! And you can totally make their day by joining the festivities — even in the tiniest of ways. Enjoy!
I’m so going to do the spider idea! That’s brilliant! So simple and easy to do and I don’t have to make a big commitment. I’m excited to see what my kids will think! Thanks!

I did this for the first time last year! When my kids came to breakfast I was in pajamas with cat ears and they thought it was hilarious!! I’ll have to do it again this year to hear their giggles.
I’m definitely one of those that doesn’t really get into dressing up all that much. I LOVE these ideas though…still allowing you to be a part of the season/holiday without going all out! I think I will do the spider idea too, or maybe a line of stitches. Too fun! I can’t wait to hear my littles laughing. OH, and if I can get my middle schoolers laughing too that would be awesome!
Totally unrelated but……. I notice your family is on some Tiny Prints holiday cards. Cool!!!
Gabrielle, it’s like you know me! I really dislike dressing up, but my little person is three this year and she’s really starting to get holidays and I don’t want to spoil her fun. I bought some over the knee candy corn socks at Target for $4…maybe I’ll hunt down some false eyelashes or witches hat too. I think she’ll dig it big time.
These are great! I’m usually zooming around all day before a party, so wearing my costume all day feels like a drag. These are so quick and easy!
Thanks for reposting this! I have actually been using the search engine here and Google search to try to find this exact video (without success – I have no idea how I could have gone wrong). My halloween wish has come true!
Kids get a kick everytime their Parent does something whacky… until the kid grows up and calls it “daggy”. Hahaha. I’m definitely doing the stockings and bugs on my back and hair. So simple and affordable! Thanks :)
Love these ideas and showed them to my husband, who is more costume averse.
I just love this! Puts me into the spirit! I’m still hanging decorations!
I love this. And not because I don’t like dressing up – I do. I just never see to have the time to figure out something really good or clever. I always have these grand ideas in February of how I’m going to start early and piece together an entire Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome costume….then it’s suddenly October 23rd :-\
Having a drop of fake blood at the corner of the mouth is very effective too!
Awesome, thankyou! Or a hairline moustache–sometimes its the simple that the funniest. I love the insect idea! For me, I’d love to get dressed up but often don’t have the time and need something last minute!
